I ❤️ Perth, WA!

During my Australian Tour this summer I had the absolute pleasure of working with educators in Perth, WA. I was hosted by Adam Brooks and Mother Teresa Catholic College at an open inquiry event where teachers from schools far and wide came in dedication to elevate their inquiry skills.

The day was magic!

Beyond the powerful learning and fantastic friendships, I am thankful for the opportunity to tour the school and explore the staff’s use of provocation stations designed to spark curiosity and create authentic inquiry for their students. Some of these stations focused on skills such as literacy and numeracy. Some of these stations focused on concepts such as identity or equality. Each classroom had several stations arranged, all well stocked with artifacts and supplies for students to interact, engage, explore, connect, construct and create.

I loved my time touring these spaces, many of which had strings and cables hanging overhead from wall to wall and corner to corner. Students are prompted to record evidence of their thinking and attached their evidence to these strings as they make connections across inquiry throughout the year. It was like a visual portfolio of their understanding, questions, and connections. Isn’t that amazing?

If you’re ever in Perth you simply must connect with Adam and Mother Teresa Catholic College!
