Recently I was hosted by colleague Cindy Blackburn from the Toddle School Leaders Project to discuss my new book Inquiry Mindset Questions Edition. We explore the origins of the ten high-impact Question Routines in the book. If you have the time, give it a watch below!
8 Benefits to Question Routines
Questions are synonymous with inquiry. They can launch and frame learning and provide opportunities to plan and clarify next steps. They can invite students into their schooling experience and help share the landscape of learning with one another and with their teacher. Questions can deepen inquiry to move beyond the superficial and towards the meaningful, the impactful, and the transformational. However all too often a focus on the depth and sophistication of questions in the inquiry classroom is overlooked.
Kaleidoscope of Inquiry Bangkok
Our second edition was recently hosted by Bangkok Patana School. Kath and I were joined by colleagues Anne van Dam and Sara K Ahmed to provide four voices for KOI Bangkok and it was a glowing success. You can read all about KOI Bangkok here. We are currently planning two KOI events for 2025 so stay tuned!
Announcing Inquiry Mindset Questions Edition
This is exciting news! My fourth publication is currently in editing and due to be released in just a few short months. This project has been years in the making and I cannot wait to share it with you all!
The book is titled Inquiry Mindset Questions Edition and helps teachers harness, sort and organize, and leverage student generated questions to help shape and guide learning.
Dive Into Inquiry: a Conversation hosted by KindlED
Recently I was hosted by colleagues Kaity and Adriane with KindlED Powered by Prenda on their podcast/webinar series to discuss the importance of relationship and curiosity in education, as well as the value of inquiry-led learning. Throughout the episode, we explored how nurturing inquisitiveness can lead to outstanding academic results and enhance students' well-being.

School Leaders Project Webinar Podcast with Toddle
As leaders, we often feel tension around assessment. How do we balance meeting external metrics and requirements while staying aligned to our schools’ values and beliefs about how students learn best? In this masterclass of a podcast, Trevor Mackenzie shares stories and strategies for keeping students and learning at the center of our assessment practices. We focus on your role as a leader to model and cultivate a culture of assessment.
Planning with Concepts - the Inquiry Umbrella
An image only takes us so far. The application and implementation within, the balance and process we engage in, the agency and responsiveness demanded, none of it can be encompassed in a single image. But the traction we observed and the work that was done after this process was introduced cannot be ignored.
Parents & Guardians in Inquiry
Recently I spent a week at one of my partner schools, ISM in Manila. it was a joy to finally connect with colleagues f2f, to see teaching and learning in action, and to get a truer sense of the culture of the school. How I spent my time across the week was diverse. I co-planned lessons with teachers. I co-taught lessons with teachers. I led workshops for the entire high school staff. I led workshops for the leadership team. I facilitated listening conversations with three groups of stakeholders: students, parents, and teachers. And I spent a lot of time with my close colleague Sarah Tudge, HS Curriculum Coordinator at ISM. The entire week was richly informative, inspiring, and productive.
Planning with Learner Curiosity in Mind Flowchart
Recently I collaborated with colleague and author of Leading with a Lens of Inquiry Jessica Vance on a resource to help cultivate moves, decisions, and responses in schools that are founded in curiosity. In our work with schools supporting them in implementing inquiry, curiosity is of critical importance. We often say that if we want curious kids, we need curious adults. In the face of the many decisions teachers make in a given day, we sat down and thought about how we could create some reflective space to make decisions rooted in curiosity.
